Paddle-Erg for Dragonboat
Having a close relationship with the Ottawa Paddling Community, Rideau CrossFit is now providing dragonboat ergometer training sessions on the KayakPro Multistroke Dragonboat Ergometer. This is the same ergometer used by the Canadian National Dragonboat Team for training and testing. With the competitive dragonboat season fast approaching, now is the ideal time to perfect your technique and improve your basic movement patterns in our small groups capped at 5/session. The twice a week program will dedicate one session per week to technical progressions with the other session focused on the application of your technique within the context of a workout. These classes run for 8 weeks and cover our technical progressions to dramatically improve your understanding of the dragonboat stroke and gain confidence in your technique.
Our coaches have thousands of hours of coaching and training experience in dragonboat, having won multiple international level festivals, and having coached many crews to podium results at international level festivals. Some of the usual suspects that can be found training at our facility include crew members from the three of the top four teams at the Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragonboat Festival, including the Paddle Demons, The HellFish, bobblake.ca, terrylonghorn.com, the Ottawa Galley Girls Premier Women, Fleet of Foote, Something’s on Fire and many others.
Our Fall sessions this year will offer both a twice per week program and a once per week program. Both programs will cover 8 weeks from Monday February 27, 2017 – Saturday April 22, 2017. All sessions run for 1 hour, and space is limited so register early to reserve your spot! Sessions will only run if there are at least 3 people scheduled.
