Rideau CrossFit is not a gym; we are a community dedicated to one another’s fitness. Located in the south-west end of Ottawa, Ontario we coach anyone and everyone with acceptance and enthusiasm. We consider everyone who comes through the door an athlete whether they are training for the Olympic team, for health and wellness, or professional competition. We believe the needs of the doctors, lawyers, husbands, wives, children, grandparents, public servants, etc. match the needs of the Olympian and professional athlete, and vary only in degree not in type. Our focus is on the development of the same functional strength and conditioning that is demanded by both professional sports and everyday life.

We train our athletes to be able to

  • run
  • jump
  • throw
  • lift over their heads
  • pick themselves up off the ground
  • carry weight on their shoulders and in their hands
  • row
  • paddle
  • and do just about any other physical task life could possibly demand.

In short, we develop virtuosity in our athletes-to do the common uncommonly well.

Mission Statement

We are committed to developing champions. Whether they are champions in the boardroom, operating room, on the race course, or at playing touch football with their grandchildren. Our focus is on providing our membership and our community the opportunity to excel in their physical, mental, social, and spiritual health. We use CrossFit as a tool to develop all sides of our athletes, and have fun while doing it.

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.

Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

We also publish the CrossFit Journal, designed to support the CrossFit community detailing the theory, techniques, and practice d by our coaches in our gym, in essence bringing your garage or gym into ours, making you a part of the CrossFit family.

Getting Started

The best way to get started to is try one of our regularly scheduled classes. If you decide it is for you, everyone who joins Rideau CrossFit gets three free one on one sessions. These sessions are intended to teach you core foundational movements of CrossFit so you can safely join our Intro to CrossFit sessions.

The Intro to Crossfit sessions will teach both the methodology behind our approach, and allow you to gradually increase the intensity of your workouts with exceptional coach to athlete ratios. The Intro to CrossFit course is limited to 6 person sessions; graduation from these sessions to our regular classes is at the discretion of our coaches. There is no additional cost for this program, just the monthly unlimited membership. Contact us to come by for a free first workout!
